After Meta and Amazon’s forfait at CES 2022 and the backward step of many bigs in the sector that announced their events only digitally, also changes plans for the first hybrid edition of the Las Vegas event.
This is a long-awaited event, but unfortunately vexed by the new wave of the pandemic, which will end up early on the road map, or rather, will begin later. To be precise, the new programme provides that the ESC 2022 will take place from 5 to 7 January 2022 as an “additional measure for safety and to ensure compliance with the health protocols put in place.” The days 3 and 4 January, in turn, will be dedicated exclusively to press events.
The current safety measures include the vaccination certificate and rapid Abbott BinaxNOW tests will be given for the withdrawal of the badge. However, the organisational committee asked participants to perform a rapid test in the 24 hours prior to entry. As for any syntomatologie that can be superimposed with the COVID-19 that will be added during the Show, the CTA (Consumer Technology Association) recommends that you go to the points of Emergency Room that will be equipped for the occasion. Many of the steps back in the last week, including Google’s forfait at CES 2022 or Intel, which came only a few days ago.
CEO Gary Shapiro of CTA said that “as the world’s most influential technological event, the ESC remains firm in its promise to be a meeting point to showcase products and discuss ideas that will improve our lives […] We are reducing the duration of the event to three days and have implemented comprehensive health measures for the safety of all participants.”
