American company that operates an online delivery platform craigslist ad posting service, Doordash, has recently collaborated with Facebook Parent company Meta to deliver marketplace items up to 15 miles away in the US.
People will be able to have their purchases picked up and delivered by Doordash if they so choose. Not every item purchased from the Facebook marketplace is eligible for delivery.
Doordash only delivers portable goods that fit in the trunk of a car. Doordash drivers are expected to deliver the goods within 48 hours.

With the platform still in its infancy, Doordash and Meta are currently offering the test in several cities in the United States, giving many drivers the chance to earn money. Tony Xu joined Meta’s board of directors earlier this year.

Following the recent partnership with Meta, the delivery company issued a statement stating that the company is always thinking about new ways to provide for the communities they serve, with access to unparalleled conveniences and opportunities through a platform.
People on the Facebook marketplace are usually not comfortable meeting up with someone they don’t know or inviting someone to come to their home to pick up an item or vice versa.
Through their delivery services, Doordash will be able to help mitigate the fear of sellers and buyers on Facebook. It’s a great option for buyers who can’t travel, as purchased goods will be delivered to other locations.
Doordash introduced nationwide shipping nine months ago. There is a new section on the app where customers can find different shipping options.
Facebook marketplace would be able to widen its delivery options thanks to Meta and Doordash. It will help to fill the gap in the marketplace.
There has been a decline in young people using Facebook. Meta’s alliance with Doordash is an attempt to reach young users since marketplace is among the few Facebook features that are popular with Gen Z.
