These Seven Questions Are Enough To Understand How Wise You Are, The Word Of The Experts

2 Mins read

Wisdom is a feature of the important personality, measured in time following the San Diego Wisdom Scale (also known as SD-WISE-28) characterized by 28 questions. This may change shortly, though: new studies have shown that seven questions are enough to understand how wise a person is, but what are they?

First, we need a cocktail on the methodologies known to experts to date. The San Diego scale of wisdom was created by a group of researchers from the University of California in San Diego in 2017 with the aim of improving clinical practice and bio-psycho-social research, thus allowing to work on further solutions for the

In the same study published four years ago, which was taken up with recent publications, the experts explained the following: • Wisdom includes seven components: self-reflection, prosocial behaviour, emotional regulation, Wisdom is strongly associated with mental and emotional well-being and is an important buffer against anxiety, depression and loneliness.

The 28 – question study was so accurate, but partly tedious in the eyes of individuals. As a result, the researchers of the university opted for the creation of a new scale called What are they? As published in the journal International Psychogeriatrics, here are the following:

I remain calm even under pressure; I avoid self-reflection; I like to be exposed to different points of view; I tend to postpone important decisions as long as possible; I often do not know what to say to people when they come to me for advice;

The testers will therefore have to assess on a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 means very much disagreement) while 5 means very much agreement) and, finally, the test will show how wise they are. The claims were selected following repeated tests with a total of 2,093 participants aged 20 to 82 years.

As we go down in detail, the strongest predictors of wisdom are the 4, 5 and 7 statements, which analyse the resolve, social advice and pro-social behaviour respectively. The first three sentences, on the other hand, act as indicators of emotional regulation, self-reflection and acceptance of divergent perspectives. The sixth statement linked to spirituality, on the other hand, is the worst indicator of wisdom, but it must always be evaluated.

By analysing the responses of test participants, the wisest are those with high scores of social interaction, resilience, mental well-being and happiness. These characteristics were found mainly between women and the elderly. Among other things, a study by the same University of California in San Diego revealed that the wisdom of the elderly helps to face loneliness.
